The Resource program is a service for children with special education needs. Children are identified through a testing and observation process. Identification is a team process that will include student, parent, teacher and Resource team.
Students having difficulties in the classroom may be discussed during the Student Review Process, where alternative stategies and interventions may be suggested. The following evaluations and programs are available:
An educational evaluation examines those factors which may interfer with achievement in reading, math, and written Language.
A full psychological evaluation includes determining a student's intellectual functioning, emotional status and adaptive behaviors.
The speech/Language evaluation examines those factors that may influence voice, fluency, language, and articulation concerns.
The physical/motor evaluation examines health, fine and gross motor, and vision and hearing concerns.
An Individual Educational Program (IEP) is created to help meet the needs of a student who qualifies for Special Education services. No child can be evaluated for, or provided special services without the written consent of parents. A child may qualify through state identified criteria for services in the areas of academic, psychological, speech/language, and/or physical motor support. Programming may be provided through consult, classroom pull-out, and/or in-classroom services.
